Freshmen Jack Dwyer and Connor Lindley were each at 4-over in Saturday's final round as Lake Forest climbed a spot in the standings and tied for 18th place at the 36-team Midwest Region Fall Classic.
Dwyer's second round included a pair of birdies in the three-hole stretch and 11 pars. He also carded an 80 on Friday and led the team while tying for 42nd place out of 192 players overall with a 36-hole score of 156. Lindley turned in one of the field's three eagles on the day, needing just three shots to complete the 508-yard, par-5 fifth hole. His 76 on Saturday was 10 shots better than his opening round and he was tied-for-82nd overall.
All five of the Foresters in the event were freshman. James Johnson posted back-to-back rounds of 80 and was tied-for-67th in the field while Anthony Scaletta tied for 91st with a 163 and Carlos Garcia Bodini's 177 was tied-for-169th.
Lake Forest's 313 in round two marked a 15-shot improvement over the team's score on Friday. The tournament took place on the North Course at Eagle Ridge Resort in Galena, Illinois, and the par-72 course covered 6884 yards.
Aurora University won the event with a two-day score of 591, seven strokes better than runner-up Edgewood College.
The Foresters will continue the fall portion of their schedule at next weekend's Wisconsin Lutheran Fall Invitational. The event will be held at Washington Country Golf Course in Hartford, Wisconsin, with Saturday's round beginning at 1:15 p.m. and Sunday's at 8:30 in the morning.
