Foresters Move Up a couple of Spots on Final Day of Tim Kopka Memorial Tournament

Back-to-back 78s made freshman James Johnson the top Forester at Carthage College's Tim Kopka Memorial Tournament over the weekend.

Johnson had a pair of birdies on Friday and a dozen pars on Saturday while posting a score of 39 on both the front and back nine in both rounds. His 36-hole score of 156 put him in a tie for 62nd place out of 108 players at the event.

The other four Foresters each had one round better than either of Johnson's but also one in the 80s. Fellow freshman Jack Dwyer carded a 2-over 73 on Saturday after an 84 on Friday and classmate Anthony Scaletta was just one shot behind him in round two but finished the weekend at 160. Senior Austin Aksoy's 77 on Saturday was 10 shots better than his opening round while freshman Connor Lindley started the event with a 76 but needed 89 shots to complete round two.

After posting a score of 324 on Friday, Lake Forest matched the fifth-best score in program history and climbed two places in the standings to 17th on Saturday with a 302. Illinois Wesleyan University was 10 strokes under par for the weekend to win the tournament.

The Foresters will be back in action next weekend at the Midwest Region Fall Classic. The tournament will be held at Eagle Ridge Resort in Galena, Illnois.
