Lake Forest Ties for Fifth at WLC Invitational

Senior Elijah Collins was one of three Foresters in the 70s and the team tied for fifth place at Saturday's Wisconsin Lutheran College Invitational.

Collins' round of 77 included nine pars and birdies on a pair of par-4s, the 367-yard ninth and 381-yard 13th. He tied for 21st in the 87-player field.

Junior Jacob Krugman led Lake Forest and tied for fifth overall with a 75. He birdied three par-4s and a pair of par-5s, tying one other play for the most holes under par.

In between Krugman and Collins was Forester senior Ricky Schmidt, who tied for eighth with a dozen other golfers. His 76 featured 14 pars.

Junior Austin Aksoy was next on the team with an 83 and senior Jordan Mandel finished with a 94. Mandel carded a birdie on the 17th hole and Aksoy the 18th.

Lake Forest posted a round of 311, matching Wisconsin Lutheran and Milwaukee School of Engineering for fifth place out of 15 teams. Concordia University Wisconsin won the event with a 303, two shots ahead of Edgewood College and three clear of Carthage College. The University of Wisconsin-Parkside was fourth at 310.

Weather has already postponed the Forester Spring Invite, which was scheduled for Sunday, so the team's next event will be Monday's Elmhurst College Spring Invitational. Play at Oak Brook Golf Club in Oak Brook, Illinois, will begin at 9:00 a.m.
