Foresters Finish Seventh at Jim Wetherbee Memorial

Junior Jacob Krugman was Lake Forest's top finisher as the team placed ninth out of 20 teams at Knox College's Jim Wetherbee Memorial Invitational on Friday and Saturday.

Krugman carded 1-over 73 in round one and a 77 on Saturday to place seventh in the 116-player field, just four shots off the lead.

Senior Ricky Schmidt was next on the team and his two-day score of 158 tied him for 30th place overall. Classmate Elijah Collins was two strokes behind Schimdt and tied-for-38th in the event. Fellow seniors Jordan Mandel and Cam McGuire also factored into the team score, Mandel with an 85 on Friday and McGuire with an 82 on Saturday.

The Foresters followed up their opening round score of 313 with a 322 on day two. Kirkwood Community College finished first with a 36-hole score of 580, 30 shots better than runner-up Edgewood College.

The next tournament on Lake Forest's schedule is next weekend's IWU Invitational at Ironwood Golf Course in Normal, Illinois. Friday's opening round will begin at noon and the first tee time on Saturday is 9:00 a.m.
