Foresters Finish Seventh at Millikin's Country Club Classic

Freshman Caleb Dzierzynski tied for the lowest score in the field as the Lake Forest College men's golf team placed seventh at Millikin University's Country Club Classic on Sunday and Monday.

Dzierzynski carded an even-par 72 in the opening round and a 71 on Monday for the second-best 36-hole score in program history. He was tied-for-fifth in the 66-player field after play on Sunday and tied for the second-best score in round two.

While Dzierzynski was better by one shot on Monday than he was on Sunday, the other four Foresters at the event averaged a four-shot improvement from round one to two. Senior Ricky Schmidt finished day one in 76 shots and carded a 74 on day two to tie for 10th place overall. Fellow senior Parker Hill went from 81 to 78 and tied for 41st place. Junior Jacob Krugman had an 84 and senior Jordan Mandel an 85 on the first day and both players finished Monday's round in 79 strokes.

Lake Forest followed up Sunday's round of 313 with a 302, the fourth-lowest score in team history, on Monday. With a total score of 583, team champion Illinois Wesleyan University edged out runner-up Millikin University by just two shots. The Foresters' 615 ranked seventh out of the 11 teams in the tournament but was just six shots out of fourth place.
