Junior Jacob Krugman was 12th out of 176 competitors at the Midwest Region Fall Classic over the weekend, finishing the two-day event with a score of 152 on the 6,884-yard, par-72 North Course at Eagle Ridge Resort in Galena, Illinois.
Krugman was tied-for-21st after carding a 77 in Friday's opening round and moved up with a 75 on day two. His seven birdies on the weekend were tied-for-third in the field and his scoring average on par-4s (4.20) was tied-for-seventh.
Forester freshman Caleb Dzierzynski matched Krugman's 77 in round one and was just one shot behind him with a 76 on Saturday. His final score was tied-for-14th overall.
Senior Ricky Schmidt finished the weekend with 22 pars, which ranked tied-for-ninth in the field. He finished Friday with a 78 and Saturday with a 77 to place tied-for-22nd in the field. A 159 for fellow senior Jordan Mandel tied him for 44th place and Elijah Collins tied for 147th with a 146. Junior Austin Aksoy played a an individual and turned in one of just nine eagles on the weekend while finishing at 179.
With back-to-back rounds of 300, Carthage College won the 32-team event by nine strokes over runners-up UW-Superior and Wheaton College. Edgewood College was fourth at 615 and the Foresters fifth at 619, 10 strokes ahead of sixth-place Univresity of Dubuque.
Lake Forest will continue the fall portion of the 2018-19 schedule at next weekend's Wisconsin Lutheran Fall Invitational. Saturday's opening round at Washington County Golf Course in Hartford, Wisconsin, will begin at 12:30 p.m. and teams will begin teeing off in round two Sunday at 9:00 a.m.
