Lake Forest College golfer Davis DeKorte was named Forester Athlete of the Week on Thursday for his performance at the NCAA Division Championships the previous two days.

DeKorte, a senior, finished off his career with two matching rounds of 75 on Tuesday and Wednesday and his 36-hole score of 150 was tied-for-56th in the field of 217 golfers. His first 18 holes were played on the 6780-yard, par-72 West Course at the Grandover Resort in Greensboro, North Carolina, and featured three birdies and one of just seven eagles in the entire opening round. The Foresters took on the more difficult 7150-yard, par-72 East Course on Wednesday and DeKorte, after recording bogeys on each of his first three holes, played the final 15 in even-par with three more birdies.

Lake Forest was 33rd out of 42 teams after the first two rounds and did not make the cut to continue playing at the four-day event. DeKorte finished two shots away from taking part in a playoff for the final spot for an individual on Thursday and Friday.

DeKorte completed the 2017-18 season with a scoring average of 77.64 and finished his career at 79.73 in 66 rounds of play.

Forester Athletes of the Week are selected by the Athletic Department on Thursdays.
