Lake Forest Places Sixth at WLC Spring Invitational

Senior Davis DeKorte carded three birdies on the back nine and finished with a 76 on Saturday as the Forester men's golf team placed sixth at the Wisconsin Lutheran College Spring Invitational at Washington County Golf Course in Hartford, Wisconsin.

DeKorte completed the par-4 11th and 15th holes in three shots each and needed just four strokes to put his ball in the cup on the 555-yard, par-5 17th. The team-best score matched is best round of the spring and put him in a tie for 12th place in the 71-player field.

Forester junior Ricky Schmidt was next on the squad just a shot behind DeKorte and tied-for-19th overall. His round of 77 included a birdie on the 404-yard, par-4 ninth and eight pars on the back nine. Sophomore Jacob Krugman finished the 6,635-yard, par-72 course in 79 strokes and junior Elijah Collins rounded out the team's top four with a score of 80. Sophomore Austin Aksoy postde an 83 and senior Durham Ghelfi, playing as an individual finished with an 81.

The Foresters placed sixth out of 13 teams with a round of 312, just one shot behind the hosts and two ahead of Milwaukee School of Engineering. Carthage College was the team champion at 295.

Lake Forest will host the annual Forester Spring Invite at Thunderhawk Golf Club in Beach Park, Illinois, on Sunday. The team's third event in as many days will begin with a shotgun start at 11:00 a.m.
