Foresters Earn First Victory at Bobcat Invitational

The Lake Forest College men's golf team finished first out of nine teams at Bryant and Stratton College's Bobcat Invitational at The Bog in Saukville, Wisconsin, on Friday.

Sophomores Austin Aksoy and Jacob Krugman led the Foresters and tied for third overall with a score of 79. Both players had one birdie, Aksoy on the par-5 first hole and Krugman on the par-4 third.

Forester junior Ricky Schmidt was next on the team, finishing in a tie for sixth overall just one shot behind Aksoy and Krugman. Senior Davis DeKorte was a shot behind Schmidt and tied-for-eighth in the 48-player field while freshman Max Rohwedder was tied-for-24th after carding an 86. All three players birdied hole number one.

Lake Forest's four-man score of 319 was 10 strokes better than second-place Concordia University Wisconsin and four more teams were within six strokes of the runners-up. The victory was the program's first in an invitational since its rebirth as a varsity sport at the College in 2014.

The Foresters will continue their busy weekend Saturday at the Wisconsin Lutheran College Spring Invitational at Washington County Golf Course in Hartford, Wisconsin. The event will begin at 1:30 p.m. Lake Forest will also host the Forester Spring Invite at Thunderhawk Golf Club in nearby Beack Park, Illinois, on Sunday with an 11:00 a.m. shotgun start.
