Sophomore Jacob Krugman was tied-for-second out of 106 players to lead the Lake Forest College men's golf team to a third-place finish at the 18-team Jim Wetherbee Memorial Invite. The two-day event was hosted by Knox College.

The Foresters were tied with Knox for fifth place after posting a score of 309 on Friday. Saturday's conditions were not nearly as favorable with Lake Forest tying for the best team score in the field at 314. Four of the six Midwest Conference teams were at the event with Knox finishing 11th with a score of 649, four strokes ahead of 12th-place Illinois College. Monmouth College was 15th at 665.

Krugman carded a 75 on Friday and a 76 on Saturday to finish just one shot off the lead. Twenty-five players finished within seven shots of first place, including Forester junior Elijah Collins, whose 78 on Saturday was one shot better than his opening round score. He tied for 20th place overall. Senior Davis DeKorte and junior Ricky Schmidt were tied-for-37th with a two-round score of 160 and sophomore Austin Aksoy shot a 78 on Saturday to finish tied-for-54th at 164.

Lake Forest will compete at the Illinois Wesleyan Invitational next weekend. Friday's opening round at Ironwood Golf Course in Normal, Illinois, will begin at noon and Saturday's play is scheduled to start at 9:00 a.m.
