Lake Forest Picked to Win 2018 MWC Championship

The Midwest Conference released its 2018 Men's Golf Preseason Coaches Poll on Monday and Lake Forest College was atop the rankings.

Voting is done by the MWC head men's golf coaches. Each coach votes for the other five schools in the league in order of predicted finish. Points are assigned in reverse order of voting (five points for first, four for second, etc.). Coaches may not vote for their own teams.

The Foresters return all four players who earned All-MWC honors by placing in the top 10 at the 2017 MWC Championship Tournament, including medalist Davis DeKorte, who is now a senior. Current junior Ricky Schmidt tied for fifth place in the league, senior Durham Ghelfi tied for seventh, and sophomore Jacob Krugman finished 10th.

Lake Forest will open the spring by playing at Eastern Florida State University in Melbourne, Florida, on March 15. The Foresters will also play in six other events, including the Forester Spring Invite, before traveling to Aldeen Golf Club in Rockford, Illinois, for the 2018 MWC Championships May 3-5.
