Foresters Finish 2017 with their Best Round of the Fall

Senior Davis DeKorte's 73 on Saturday was the team's best score of the tournament as the Lake Forest College men's golf team placed 10th out of 20 teams at Millikin University's Hopkins Collegiate Classic over the weekend.

DeKorte led the Foresters to a 303 on Saturday and they climbed from 14th to 10th in the standings. It was also the team's lowest round of the fall semester, which included four events.

Sophomore Jacob Krugman led Lake Forest on Friday with a 2-over 74 and he was just one shot off that score on Saturday. His two-day total of 149 tied him for 10th place in the 111-player field. DeKorte finished tied-for-39th at 155, one shot ahead of junior Ricky Schmidt, who matched Krugman's 75 in round two. Freshman Max Rohwedder tied for 81st with a 36-hole score of 164 while senior Durham Ghelfi was at 170 for the weekend.

Hope College was the overall champion with a score of 584, seven strokes better than runner-up Illinois Wesleyan University. The Foresters' 624 was three shots behind ninth-place Wheaton College and one ahead of Marian University, which placed 11th.

Lake Forest will begin the 2018 portion of its schedule during its Spring Break Trip in March.
