Sophomore Jacob Krugman tied for first place as an individual and helped lead the Lake Forest College men's golf team to a third-place finish at the Wisconsin Lutheran College Fall Invitational on Sunday and Monday.

Krugman carded a 73 in his first round and 71 on day two to finish at even par for the tournament. He birdied the 555-yard, par-5 17th hole both days and was under par five other times in the tournament. His 36-hole score of 144 ranks second in program history.

Senior Davis DeKorte was next on the team with a 75 on Sunday while junior Ricky Schmidt finished with a 77. Both players posted a 79 on Monday to finish 19th and tied-for-22nd, respectively, among the 95 players who competed on both days. DeKorte matched Krugman's seven birdies in the tournament and had three in a row on Monday. Schmidt had two birdies and nine pars in round one and a dozen pars on the second day.

Junior Cam McGuire recorded back-to-back rounds of 82 and his score on Sunday counted toward the team's total. Senior Durham Ghelfi needed just 75 shots to complete his round on Monday. He had three birdies in a five-hole stretch while firing a 35 on the back nine. Ghelfi tied for 49th place and McGuire for 55th overall.

Freshman Max Rohwedder, sophomore Austin Aksoy, and junior Jacob Soyka played as individuals in the tournament and finished with two-days scores of 159, 163, and 169, respectively.

The Foresters' opening day score of 307 ranked tied-for-third in the 16-team field and Lake Forest improved by three shots on Monday but remained in third place. Carthage College won the tournament with a score of 599, six strokes better than St. Mary's University and 12 ahead of the Foresters. Edgewood College was fourth at 615.

Lake Forest will complete the fall portion of its schedule at the Millikin Invitational next weekend. Friday's round will be played at the Country Club of Decatur and Saturday's at Red Tail Run Golf Club.
