Foresters Tie for Fifth at Blueboy Invite

Junior Davis DeKorte was among three Lake Forest players with a 36-hole score of 158 as the Forester men's golf team tied for fifth place out of 11 schools at the Illinois College Blueboy Invite on Friday and Saturday.

DeKorte followed up his 80 on day one of the tournament with a 78 on Saturday to climb into a tie for 13th place in the 61-player field. He was joined there by sophomore Ricky Schmidt, who carded a pair of 79s on the weekend, and freshman Jacob Krugman, whose 75 was tied for the third-lowest score on Saturday. Junior Durham Ghelfi rounded out the Foresters' top four with an 80 on Friday and an 89 on Saturday.

Six of the 12 players ahead of Lake Forest's top three were from Kirkwood Community College, whose two-day score of 586 was 40 strokes ahead of runner-up Lewis and Clark Community College. Monmouth College was third at 634, Blackburn College fourth at 637, and the Foresters and Illinois College tied-for-fifth at 643.

The event was played at The Rail in Springfield, Illinois, and the par-72 course covered 6,630 yards.

Lake Forest will be back in action on Sunday at the Forester Spring Invite. Play at Aldeen Golf Club in Rockford, Illinois, will begin at 10:00 a.m.
