Lake Forest Competes at Carthage Spring Invitational

Sophomore Ricky Schmidt led the Forester men's golf team with a round of 76 at the Carthage College Spring Invitational on Tuesday.

Schmidt tied for 16th place in the 69-player field and was five strokes behind the individual winner.

Junior Davis DeKorte and freshman Jacob Krugman were next on the team and tied-for-25th overall with matching rounds of 79. Junior Durham Ghelfi's 85 rounded out the squad's top four and sophomore Elijah Collins completed the 6,530-yard, par-70 course in 93 strokes.

Carthage College won the event with a score of 295, 10 strokes ahead of runner-up Elmhurst College. Lake Forest's 319 was 10th in the 12-team field.

The Foresters will travel south for their next event, the 36-hole Illinois College Blueboy Invite on Friday and Saturday. Play on day one will begin at noon on and Saturday's start time is scheduled for 8:00 a.m.
