Foresters Start Spring Season in St. Petersburg, Florida

Lake Forest's top 10 players were separated by just six strokes as the Foresters took on host Eckerd College at the St. Petersburg Country Club on Thursday.

Eckerd had the top four players in the competition and won with just 306 total strokes. The Foresters' 12 players were divided into two teams. Led by freshman Jordan Mandel's 85, Lake Forest Black finished with a score of 348, one shot better than Lake Forest Red. Sophomore Durham Ghelfi turned in the Foresters' low round, an 84.

Freshman Ricky Schmidt was next on Team Black with a round of 86, followed by junior Matthew Weidner's 88 and an 89 carded by freshman Carter Ostrander. Sophomores Jacob Soyka, Jeremy Edelson, and Matthew Pochowicz rounded out Team Red's scorers with round of 87, 88, and 90, respectively.

The next event on the Foresters' schedule is Knox College's Prairie Fire Classic March 25-26.
