Lake Forest Competes in 31-Team Midwest Region Fall Classic

The Forester men's golf team placed 20th out of 31 teams at the Midwest Region Fall Classic over the weekend. Freshman Parker Hill led Lake Forest both days and finished in a tie for 11th place overall.

Hill was tied for 31st place after Friday's round of 77. Just seven members of the 167-player field were better than his 74 on Saturday as he climbed 20 places in the standings. Hill tied for third in the field in par-5 scoring at -3 for the weekend and in pars at 23.

Fellow Lake Forest freshman Ricky Schmidt and sophomores Durham Ghelfi and Davis DeKorte were tied for 91st place overall with two-day scores of 167. Ghelfi and DeKorte completed the course in 80 shots on Friday and 87 on Saturday. Schmidt shot an 82 on day one and 85 in round two.

Sophomore Jeremy Edleson's round of 86 on Saturday contributed to the team score and he finished in a tie for 116th place with a two-day score of 171.

Millikin University's score of 600 on the weekend was the best in the field, four strokes better than runner-up Edgewood College. The Foresters fell from tied-for-14th on Friday to 20th after Saturday's play with a score of 651.

Lake Forest will complete the fall portion of its schedule at next weekend's Milwaukee School of Engineering Invitational. Play at Grand Geneva Resort and Spa will begin at 1:00 Sunday afternoon and Monday at 9:00 a.m.
