Lake Forest Finishes Third at Lawrence Viking Invitational

The Forester men's golf team placed third at Saturday's Lawrence University Viking Invitational. Freshman Christopher Rockers led Lake Forest with an 81 on the par-73 course at the Eagle Creek Golf Club in Greenville, Wisconsin.

Rockers had no worse than bogie on any hole and his 10 pars on the day were split evenly between the front and back nine. He finished in a tie for 10th place among the 25 golfers in the four-team tournament.

Fellow Forester freshman Davis DeKorte was next on the team and his round of 86 was tied-for-15th. Classmates Durham Ghelfi and Matthew Weidner were one shot back in a tie for 18th place. Ghelfi birdied the par-5, 513-yard 12th hole and Weidner was the only player in the field to complete the par-3, 199-yard 16th in just two shots.

St. Norbert College won the event with a four-person round of 311, six shots better Carroll University. Lake Forest posted a score of 341 to edge out Lawrence by three strokes.

All four team will also travel to Rockford, Illinois, on Sunday for the Midwest Conference Preview Meet, which will begin at 10:00 a.m.
