Foresters Move Up Two Spots on Final Day of MSOE Invite

The Lake Forest College men's golf team improved by eight strokes from the first round to the second at the two-day Milwaukee School of Engineering Invite. Senior Mcauley Banning was one of two Foresters to with a team-best score of 85 on Monday.

Banning and fellow senior Benjamin Certo each carded an 85 in round two and moved up five spots in the individual standings. The Foresters' top finisher at the event was freshman Durham Ghelfi, whose 88 gave him a final score of 174, which tied him for 54th place overall. Freshman Christopher Rockers was next on the team with a score of 90 on Monday and 176 for the event. Certo finished at 181 and Banning at 183. Sophomore Matthew Weidner's 88 in Sunday's opening round ranked third on the team but a Monday score of 96 gave him a total of 184.

Central College posted a winning score of 590, 17 shots better than runner-up Carthage College. The Foresters were in 13th place after Sunday's 356 but passed Monday's 348 vaulted them past Rockford College and Finlandia University and into 11th place in the standings.

Lake Forest will close out the fall portion of the schedule at Thursday's Elmhurst Invitational. The tournament will begin at 10:30 a.m. at Oak Brook Golf Club in Oak Brook, Illinois.
