Kyle Taber

Kyle Taber is in his fifth year on the Lake Forest coaching staff. On the court, he works specifically with the team’s post players. He is also involved with recruiting and opponent scouting and is the co-director of Lake Forest Boys Basketball Camps.

Since he joined the staff, the Foresters are 47-46 overall and 38-34 in Midwest Conference play and he helped lead the 2011-12 team to a conference title. Under Taber’s direction, post player Travis Clark was named MWC Player of the Year and earned Second Team All-American honors from the National Association of Basketball Coaches in 2011-12. In addition, Jim Schick was second on the team in scoring and shot 55.1 percent from the field as a freshman in 2013-14.

Taber played for Indiana University from 2004-09. As a Hoosier he played for four different head coaches (Mike Davis 2004-06, Kelvin Sampson 2006-08, Dan Dakich 2008, and Tom Crean 2008-09).

At Indiana, Taber was a preferred walk-on who was awarded a full scholarship for his final two seasons. He was named the team’s Most Improved Player as a junior and served as the team captain his senior year. The three-time Academic All-Big Ten honoree earned his bachelor’s degree in sport marketing and management in May of 2008 before working toward a master’s degree in sport marketing/athletic administration.

A 2004 graduate of Evansville Central High School, Taber was named the 2004 Metro Player of the Year.

Taber and his wife Kristen live in nearby Lake Bluff.
