Foresters Win Back-and-Forth Battle at Knox

Six players on the team scored in double figures as Lake Forest prevailed 74-72 at Knox College Tuesday night.

The game featured six ties and 14 lead changes. The Foresters led by as many as six points in the first half but that advantage was just two at 40-38 after 20 minutes of play.

A 7-2 run to open the second half put the visitors up by seven but Knox responded with nine straight points to pull ahead by two. The home team was ahead 57-53 at the midpoint of the period before an 8-0 run gave the Foresters a four-point lead of their own. Lake Forest led the rest of the way, pulling ahead by eight at one point, and a Knox three-pointer made it a two-point victory for the Foresters.

Lake Forest junior guard Alex Knight led all players in the contest with 19 points and five assists. Freshman forward Noah Deitch and junior guards Rocco Ronzio and Zach Foster each finished with 11 points while senior forward Frank Siegien and sophomore guard Elijah Bull added 10 apiece.

Forester senior forward Johnny Roeser had his streak of three straight double-doubles snapped at three but still pulled down a game-high 14 rebounds.

Ronzio and Deitch each knocked down three of Lake Forest's season-high 10 three-pointers. Both teams shot 40 percent from the field and the Foresters connected at the same rate from beyond the arc while the Prairie Fire were 9-for-16.

The victory raised Lake Forest's overall record on the season to 5-8 and evened the team's Midwest Conference mark at 2-2. Knox fell to 2-11 overall and 0-4 in the league.

The Foresters will travel to Cornell College on Saturday for a 3:00 p.m. tip-off. Lake Forest will be looking for a season sweep of the Rams after defeating them 68-61 a mongth ago at home.
