Lake Forest Defeats Carroll in Season's Final Non-Conference Game

The Forester men's basketball team hosted and defeated Carroll University 80-74 on Friday in the squad's final game of 2022 and the last non-conference contest on the schedule.

Lake Forest senior wing Johnny Roeser finished with a game-high 22 points and 11 rebounds for his third consecutive double-double. He shot 9-for-12 from the floor and raised his Midwest Conference-leading field goal percentage on the year to .604.

The other four players in the Forester starting lineup also scored in double figures. Senior forward Frank Siegien was next with 13 points, sophomore guard Alex Knight and junior guard Rocco Ronzio each had 11, and sophomore guard Elijah Bull chipped in with 10 points while dishing out a season-high nine assists.

Lake Forest shot 54.1 percent, the team's second-highest mark of the year, and limited the Pioneers to just 43.1 percent.

There were four ties and seven lead changes in a first half that ended with the Foresters ahead 40-38.

Lake Forest never trailed in the second half and eventually led by 13 with six-and-a-half minutes left. The Pioneers closed to within four with 1:55 to play but got no closer.

The Foresters improved to 4-8 on the season while Carroll fell to 3-9.

Lake Forest will resume conference play at Knox College next Tuesday with tip-off scheduled for 7:30 p.m.
