Lake Forest Stages Late Comeback before Falling at Millikin

The Forester men's basketball team dropped an 82-78 decision at Millikin University on Saturday.

Lake Forest freshman guard Elijah Bull finished with a game-high 20 points and 8 rebounds in the contest. He shot 6-for-10 from the field, knocked down three of six attempts from three-point range, and added a team-high five rebounds.

Freshman forward Noah Deitch, junior guard Rocco Ronzio, and senior forward Frank Siegien also reached double figures with 14, 13, and 10 points, respectively.

The Foresters shot 51.9 percent from the field and 9-for-18 on three-pointers while the Big Blue were at just 46.3 percent overall and 6-for-20 from beyond the arc. Millikin, however, out-rebounded Lake Forest 31-28 and committed just nine turnovers to the visitors' 13.

Millikin led by as many as nine points in the first half but the Foresters scored the final six points of the period and trailed 41-39 at the break. The Big Blue pulled away again in the second half and were ahead by 12 with nine minutes to play. Lake Forest outscored the home team 14-2 over the next six minutes and tied the score at 76 on a basket by sophomore guard Alex Knight. Millikin, however, regained the lead on a pair of free throws with 1:32 on the clock and connected on four more foul shots in the final 15 seconds to help secure the victory.

The loss dropped the Foresters' overall record on the season to 1-5 while Millikin improved to 5-1.

Lake Forest will resume Midwest Conference play at Monmouth College on Tuesday with tip-off scheduled for 7:30 p.m.
