League Standings Congested after Lake Forest's Loss at Lawrence

The Forester men's basketball team was defeated 90-73 at Lawrence University on Saturday, leaving both teams a game over .500 in Midwest Conference play.

Lake Forest senior guard Sean Espinosa shot 13-for-24 from the field and led all players in the game with 29 points. Junior wing Johnny Roeser was next on the team with 14 points.

The Foresters shot 51.7 percent from the field but the home team connected at a rate of 60 percent. The Vikings outscored their guests 21-6 on three-pointer and 17-12 from the free throw line while maintaining a commanding 36-20 edge in rebounds.

A 10-0 run by Lawrence gave the home team a double-digit lead early in the contest. Lake Forest closed to within eight several times in the first half but was outscored 14-6 in the final 5:42 of the period and trailed 52-36 at halftime. The margin surpassed 20 points early in the second half and did not fall below that mark until the final minute.

Lake Forest is now 7-13 overall and 6-5 in Midwest Conference play this season. Lawrence improved to 8-10 overall and 5-4 in the league. The teams will play again in Lake Forest on February 9.

The Foresters will host Beloit College in their next game on Saturday, February 5, at 1:00 p.m.
