Foresters Fall to Illinois College

The Lake Forest College men's basketball team suffered an 83-60 loss to Illinois College at home on Saturday.

The game started well for the Foresters, who made their first six field goal attempts and jumped out to a 20-7 lead. However, they were outscored 40-9 during the final 12 minutes of the opening period and trailed 47-29 at the half.

Lake Forest got no closer than 17 points in the final 20 minutes.

Senior guard Sean Espinosa led the home team with 22 points, junior forward Frank Siegien finished with 15, and sophomore guards Andre Bennett and Rocco Ronzio added eight apiece. Freshman forward Tommy Fontanella grabbed a team-high six rebounds.

Illinois College shot 54.7 percent from the field while the Foresters were at just 36.8. The Blueboys outscored Lake Forest 33-15 on three-pointers and had a 39-25 edge on the boards.

The loss dropped the Foresters' overall record to 5-10 and Midwest Conference mark to 4-2. Illinois College is now 6-7 overall and 2-3 in the league.

Lake Forest will host Ripon College next Tuesday at 5:30 p.m.
