The Lake Forest College and University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point men's basketball teams met at the JustAgame Fieldhouse in Wisconsin Dells on Saturday and the Pointers came out on top 65-59.

Forester Sean Espinosa led all players in the contest with a season-high 30 points. The senior guard passed Mike Ansani (1994-98) and Franklyn Beckford (2002-06) on the program's all-time scoring list and now ranks 11th in team history with 1,321 career points. He also added three assists and three steals in the game.

Lake Forest junior wing Johnny Roeser posted his third double-double of the season, finishing with 11 point and a game-high 13 rebounds.

Neither team shot particularly well with Stevens Point connecting on 40.4 percent of their field goal attempts and the Foresters 38.6. The Pointers also doubled up Lake Forest 12-6 on three-pointers. The Foresters had a 40-35 edge in rebounds but committed a dozen turnovers to the Pointers' nine.

Stevens Point led by as many as five points and Lake Forest by six in the opening period. The Foresters were on top by three (28-25) at halftime.

A 10-2 run by the Pointers to open the second half put them back on top and they rattled off 12 straight points a few minutes later to extend the lead to 16 (50-34). Espinosa then scored 13 points, including the final 10, during a 19-4 run by the Foresters that made it a one-point game with 4:58 remaining. Lake Forest did not score in the next three-and-a-half minutes and Stevens Point held on for the victory by making five of six shots from the foul line in the final 33 seconds.

The Foresters fell to 2-6 on the season while the Pointers evened their record at 2-2.

Lake Forest will play its first Midwest Conference home game of the season against Monmouth College on Tuesday. Tip-off is scheduled for 5:30 p.m.
