Lake Forest Eliminated by Ripon at MWC Tournament

Junior wing Michael Drew Jr. led the Foresters with a season-high 16 points Friday night in an 82-51 season-ending loss to Ripon College in the semifinals of the Midwest Conference Tournament.

Drew shot 6-for-11 form the field and 4-for-5 from the foul line and also led Lake Forest with six rebounds in the contest.

The Foresters shot a season-low 32.8 percent from the floor and made just five three-pointers in 26 attempts. The Red Hawks connected on 51.7 percent of their their field goal attempts, including 10 three-pointers, and had a commanding 48-27 edge in rebounds.

Lake Forest led by nine points early in the game and was ahead by eight with six minutes remaining in the opening period. Ripon then rattled off 14 straight points before a three-point play by Drew made the score 31-28 in favor of the Red Hawks at the half.

Ripon pulled away in the second half, shooting 61.3 percent from the field and 7-for-10 from beyond the arc in the game's final 20 minutes.

The Foresters finished the season with a record of 13-13. Ripon improved to 19-7 and will face tournament host St. Norbert College in Saturday afternoons final.

Friday night's game was the last in a Lake Forest uniform for seniors Sam Husting and Aram Arslanian, who have helped lead the team to 62 victories over the last four seasons, the most of any four-year span in program history.
