Sean Espinosa Named First Team All-MWC

The Midwest Conference announced the 2019-20 All-MWC Basketball Teams Thursday morning and Lake Forest College's Sean Espinosa was a first team selection.

Espinosa leads the league with 5.1 assists per game and ranks second with 1.9 steals and seventh with 16.9 points per contest. The junior guard has reached double figures in points in all but three of the team's 25 games and has scored 20 or more in eight contests with a pair of 30-point performances. He has also dished out 10 or more assists three times with a high of 16 at Grinnell College on January 3.

With 376 assists in his first three years as a Forester, Espinosa is the program's career leader in that category. He also ranks 15th in team annals with 1,169 points and is one of just eight players in school history to reach the 1,000-point milestone as a junior.

Espinosa was also a First Team All-MWC honoree last season, making him the first Forester to earn that distinction in back-to-back years since 2012.

Lake Forest completed the regular season with an overall record of 13-12 and finished third in the league standings at 10-8 in MWC play. The Foresters qualified for the four-team MWC Tournament for the fifth year in a row and will take on Ripon College in the semifinals Friday night at 7:00. The event will be hosted by St. Norbert College.
