Sean Espinosa Named MWC Performer of the Week

Lake Forest College men's basketball player Sean Espinosa was named Midwest Conference Performer of the Week on Monday after averaging 26.5 points and 10.5 assists in a pair of Forester victories.

Espinosa scored a game-high 34 points and dished out 10 assists in the Foresters' 108-76 victory over visiting Lawrence University on Wednesday. The junior guard's sixth assist of the evening moved him past Patrick Hanley and into first place in program history with 343 in his career. He shot 13-for-18 from the field, including 6-for-8 from three-point range, and also grabbed seven rebounds and recorded three steals in the contest.

Lake Forest traveled to Illinois College on Saturday and edged out the Blueboys 92-90. Espinosa finished the game with 19 points and 11 assists for his second consecutive double-double and the third of his career. He also pulled down six boards on the afternoon.

Of his 21 assists in the two games combined, 13 were on three-pointers, meaning that Espinosa either scored or assisted on 108 of the Foresters' 200 points on the week. His 109 assists on the year are the seventh-most in program history and he also owns the second and fourth spots on that list.

MWC Performers of the Week are selected by the league office. He also earned the award once last season.
