Sean Espinosa Named Forester Athlete of the Week

After scoring or assisting on more than half of the team's points in back-to-back victories, men's basketball player Sean Espinosa was named Forester Athlete of the Week on Thursday.

Lake Forest prevailed 89-58 at Beloit College on Saturday and Espinosa tied for game-high honors with 25 points in the contest. He also recorded five steals and dished out nine assists, including eight on three-pointers.

Espinosa entered Wednesday night's home game against Lawrence University needing five assists to tie the program's career record of 342. He reached that mark in the first half, broke the record early in the second, and finished with 34 points, 10 assists, seven rebounds, and three steals in a 108-76 triumph.

Espinosa scored 59 points and set up teammates for 52 more in the two games combined. He also shot 66 percent (23-for-35) from the field and 60 percent (9-for-15) from three-point range. He had 19 assists and twice as many steals (8) as turnovers (4).

Forester Athletes of the Week are selected by the Athletic Department on Thursdays. Espinosa also earned the award twice last year.
