Sean Espinosa Named Forester Athlete of the Week

Lake Forest College basketball player Sean Espinosa was named Forester Athlete of the Week on Thursday after helping lead his team extend its winning streak to five games with a pair of victories in the last seven days.

Espinosa scored 22 of his career-high 29 points after halftime of the Foresters' 98-70 victory over Beloit College at home last Saturday. He shot 12-for-20 from the field, knocked down three attempts from beyond the arc, and added three assists and three steals in the contest.

Thanks in part to Espinosa's 6-for-6 shooting from the free throw line in the final three minutes, Lake Forest pulled away for an 80-70 win Tuesday night at Lawrence University. He led the visitors with 17 points and his game-high seven assists helped enable four other Foresters to score in double figures.

Espinosa leads the Midwest Conference in playing time and also ranks first in the league with 1.8 steals, fourth with 18.9 points. and fifth with 4.1 assists per game. He ranks ninth in program history with 222 career assists in just his second year at the College and is on pace to post one of the top five single-season scoring totals in team annals.

Forester Athletes of the Week are selected by the Athletic Department on Thursdays. Espinosa also earned the award on November 29.
