Lake Forest Reaches Century Mark in Victory at Beloit

Freshman guard Tashon Brown finished within two rebounds and two assists of a triple double as the Forester men's basketball team posted a 100-82 victory at Beloit College Wednesday night.

Brown scored 16 points, pulled down eight rebounds, and dished out a game-high eight assists without committing a turnover in 31 minutes of play. He made a season-high four three pointers in eight attempts and added a steal and a blocked shot to an already diverse stat line.

Brown was one of six Foresters to score in double figures, led by senior forward Danny Sotos with 20 points. He was 7-for-11 from the field and grabbed a team-high nine rebounds. Junior guard Sam Husting made six of eight shots from beyond the arc in an 18-point performance and junior Aram Arslanian matched Brown with 16 points, as did senior guard Jordan Moran on 7-for-8 shooting from the field. Sophomore guard Sean Espinosa, the top scorer on the team this season, chipped in with 10 points. He and Moran also added five assists apiece.

Lake Forest shot 54.2 percent from the field and tied the ninth-highest total in team history with 14 three-pointers in 29 tries. The Foresters also committed a season-low six turnovers.

The game began with three-pointers from Husting and Sotos and the Foresters never relinquished the lead. The margin grew to as many as 13 points in the opening period but Beloit pulled back to within six before halftime and closed to within five at 46-41 with 15:44 remaining in the contest. Lake Forest scored 12 of the next 17 points and maintained a double digit lead the rest of the way. The visitors shot 68.4 percent from the field and poured in 65 points in the game's final 20 minutes for the sixth-highest scoring half in program history.

It was the Foresters' second 100-point performance of the season and the 12th in program history. Lake Forest had never reached that total against Beloit, the team's most common opponent with 150 previous meetings.

The Foresters are now 7-5 overall this season and Beloit 5-7. Both teams own Midwest Conference records of 3-2.

Lake Forest will host Knox College Saturday at 5:00 p.m.
