North Park Snaps Foresters' Winning Streak

Junior guard Jordan Moran scored a season-high 17 points but the Lake Forest College men's basketball team was unable to extend its seven-game winning streak, falling 64-59 to visiting North Park University on Saturday.

Moran made seven of eight field goal attempts and three of four free throws. He also shared team-high honors with seven rebounds and three steals in the contest. Junior forward Danny Sotos and senior guard Eric Porter also reached double figures with 15 and 11 points, respectively, and Sotos matched Moran's seven boards. Freshman Sean Espinosa led the home team with four assists and added three steals.

The Foresters shot a season-low 41.8 percent from the field and made just three of 22 attempts from three-point range. The Vikings were slightly better at 45.3 percent from the floor and 5-for-21 from beyond the arc. Lake Forest had a slight 32-31 edge in rebounds and forced 11 of the game's 21 turnovers.

The home team led by as many as six early in the contest before a 14-4 run by North Park gave the Vikings a four-point edge. After the Foresters tied the game, the visitors scored the final four points of the opening period and led 27-23 at halftime.

An 11-2 run early in the second half gave Lake Forest a 36-31 lead. North Park responded with a 12-2 run to pull back ahead by five. The Foresters pulled back to within three points four times, including once on a steal and dunk by Moran with 4:10 to play, but got no closer.

The Foresters re now 7-2 on the season while North Park improved to 2-6.

Lake Forest will be in action next at the Roosevelt New Year's Classic December 29-30. The Foresters will take on the hosts Friday evening at 5:00 and the University of St. Francis Saturday at 3:00 p.m.
