Senior forward Jim Schick finished one rebound shy of a double-double as the Lake Forest College men's basketball team posted a 59-50 victory at Beloit College Tuesday night.

Schick shot 8-for-13 from the field and led all players in the contest with 17 points and nine rebounds. He was 6-for-7 on field goals in the first half as the visitors jumped out to a 37-29 lead at the break.

The margin grew to as many as a dozen points early in the second half but Beloit trimmed it to just three at 52-49 with three-and-a-half minutes to play. A basket by Schick ended the Bucs' 13-4 run and neither team scored again until freshman guard Aram Arslanian knocked down one of his two three-pointers in the game with 49 seconds left. A pair of free throws by sophomore forward Danny Sotos and a steal by senior guard Mike Rueffer with 24 seconds on the clock helped seal the victory.

Sotos and Rueffer joined Schick in double figures with 11 and 10 points, respectively. Rueffer, who like Arslanian was 2-for-2 from three-point range, also grabbed six rebounds as the Foresters edged out the Buccaneers 30-28 on the boards.

Lake Forest shot 45.3 percent from the field, slightly better than the home team's mark of 43.5 percent. Beloit knocked down nine of 17 attempts from beyond the arc to keep the game close but committed 15 turnovers to the visitors' nine.

The victory improved the Foresters' overall record on the season to 11-7 and raised their Midwest Conference mark to 9-4. Beloit fell to 5-13 overall and 3-10 in the league.

Lake Forest will travel to Ripon College on Saturday. Tip-off is scheduled for 3:00 p.m.
