Foresters Finish off Successful Weekend with Rout of Knox

Junior forward Orlando Brown posted his first double-double as a Forester to help lead the Lake Forest College men's basketball team to a 79-53 victory over visiting Knox College on Saturday.

Brown scored 11 points and grabbed a dozen rebounds in just 19 minutes on the court. His only other double-double as a collegiate player came during his freshman season while playing for Knox.

Junior guard Eric Porter and sophomore forward Danny Sotos led Lake Forest with 14 points apiece. Porter added five rebounds and a game-high three steals while Sotos tied for the team lead with three assists. Ten different Foresters scored at least three points in the contest.

Lake Forest shot 47.6 percent from the field while limiting the Prairie Fire to just 32.3 percent. The home team outscored Knox 24-15 on three-pointers and 11-8 from the free throw line. The Foresters also had a 46-34 edge in rebounds and committed 10 turnovers while forcing 13.

Knox led by as many as six points early in the contest and Lake Forest had just a two-point lead (24-22) with eight minutes to play in the opening period. The home team then rattled off nine straight points and took a 37-25 lead into the locker room at halftime.

The Foresters continued to pull away in the second half, extending their lead to as many as 36 points at 74-38 with seven minutes left.

With victories over Grinnell College and Knox over the weekend, Lake Forest has climbed into a tie for fourth place in the Midwest Conference standings with a league record of 5-3. The Foresters are 7-6 overall. Knox fell to 1-12 overall and 1-7 in the conference.

Lake Forest will travel to Lawrence University Wednesday night for a 7:30 p.m. tip-off.
