Senior forward Jim Schick posted his 26th career double-double but the Lake Forest College men's basketball team was defeated 80-63 by Ripon College at home on Saturday.

Schick led the Foresters with 14 points and a dozen rebounds. Junior guard Eric Porter and sophomore forward Danny Sotos were next on the squad with 12 points apiece. Sotos also led the team with three assists and Porter with a career-high five steals.

Lake Forest shot just 37.5 percent from the field and made only five of 24 attempts from three-point range. Ripon connected on 49.1 percent of field goal attempts and on 11 of 20 three-pointers, including eight of 10 after halftime. The Red Hawks had a slight 36-33 edge in rebounds.

The home team scored the game's first five points and led by as many as seven early on. After Ripon came back and took an 18-17 lead, Lake Forest quickly regained the advantage and was ahead 35-27 at halftime.

The teams combined to score 18 points in the first three minutes of the second half and the Foresters had their largest lead of the game (45-35) at that point. They were outscored 19-4 over the next six minutes, however. After Lake Forest closed back to within a point, the Red Hawks scored 23 of the game's final 29 points to run away with the victory.

Lake Forest fell to 5-6 overall and 3-3 in Midwest Conference play this season while Ripon improved to 10-1 overall and remained undefeated in six league games.

The Foresters will host Grinnell College next Friday night at 7:30 and Knox College the following afternoon at 4:00.
