Lake Forest Routs Dominican in North Carolina

The Forester men's basketball team posted a convincing 76-49 victory over Dominican University at Greensboro College Monday afternoon. Freshman guard Danny Nikitas knocked down four three-pointers and led Lake Forest with 18 points.

Nikitas shot 7-for-9 from the field and 4-for-5 from beyond the arc. He also dished out three assists. Sophomore forward Jim Schick was next on the Foresters with 13 points and he finished just one rebound shy of a double-double for the second day in a row. Sophomore center Matt McPherson added 11 points and matched Schick's team-high nine boards while junior forward Torrey Davis also reached double figures with 10 points in the contest.

Lake Forest had a commanding 51-31 advantage in rebounds and shot 42.4 percent from the field while limiting the Stars to just 32.7 percent. The Foresters committed 11 turnovers while forcing 14.

A three-pointer by Schick extended Lake Forest's lead to double figures with seven-and-a-half minutes to play in the first half. A 14-4 run by the Foresters to close out the period made the score 44-24 at halftime. The margin grew to as many as 31 points in the second half.

The Foresters are now 4-6 overall this season while the Stars fell to 1-10.

Lake Forest will resume Midwest Conference play at Monmouth College on Saturday. Tip-off is scheduled for 5:00 p.m.
