Foresters Unable to Complete Comeback Bid at St. Norbert

The Lake Forest College men's basketball team trimmed a 17-point second half deficit to six but were unable to complete the comeback in a 71-56 loss at St. Norbert College on Wednesday. Junior forward Brian Madson led the Foresters with 12 points and 10 rebounds for his second straight double-double.

Senior guard James Stack was next on the team with 11 points and sophomore forward Torrey Davis and freshman guard Josh Irving added seven points apiece.

The Foresters shot just 35 percent from the floor while the Green Knights connected on nearly 47 percent of their field goal attempts. Lake Forest was also out-rebounded 39-31 and committed 11 of the game's 20 turnovers.

St. Norbert broke a 22-22 tie with a 9-0 run and pulled away to take a 44-31 lead at halftime.

The margin grew to 17 points in the second half before a 15-4 run by the Foresters made the score 62-56 with 3:50 to play. Lake Forest was unable to score again, however, and the home team shot 9-for-12 from the free throw line down the stretch.

The Foresters fell to 2-4 overall and 1-2 in Midwest Conference play while St. Norbert improved to 3-1 overall and 1-0 in the league.

Lake Forest will continue conference play against visiting Knox College Saturday at 3:00 p.m.
