Lake Forest Falls to St. Norbert

The Forester men's basketball team was defeated 64-48 by visiting St. Norbert College Wednesday night. Lake Forest freshman guard Mason Zuniga scored a career-high 10 points in the contest.

Zuniga shot 3-for-6 from the field and made a pair of three-pointers in four attempts from beyond the arc. He also knocked down two free throws in 16 minutes of play.

Senior guard Jeff Beck actually led Lake Forest with 14 points and the home team's leading rebounders were senior forward Chris Madson and sophomore forward Brian Madson, who pulled down seven boards apiece.

The Foresters shot less than 30 percent from the field on the night and made just six of 23 three-pointers. The Green Knights shot nearly 52 percent from the floor. Lake Forest had a 34-30 edge in rebounds but committed a dozen turnovers to St. Norbert's eight.

The Green Knights led by just one (10-9) before rattling off 15 consecutive points and finishing the first half with a 32-19 advantage.

After a basket by Beck to start the second half, the visitors went on another 15-0 run to grab a 47-21 lead. Lake Forest scored 15 of the game's next 18 points to pull to within 14 points by the home team would get no closer.

The Foresters fell to 5-12 overall this season and to 3-9 in Midwest Conference play. St. Norbert is 13-3 overall and still atop the conference standings with a 10-2 record in league play.

Lake Forest will play at Grinnell College Saturday at 3:00 p.m.
