Sophomore forward Brian Madson and freshman forward Torrey Davis chipped in with eight points apiece and Brian Madson matched his older brother's eight boards.

The Foresters jumped out to a 14-5 lead and were ahead by eight before Southwestern scored the final six points of the opening period, making the score 25-23 at halftime.

Southwestern took the lead early in the second half but a basket by Brian Madson put the Foresters back on top. A Pirate layup with 10:15 to play broke a 34-34 tie but the younger Madson knocked down a three-pointer to give Lake Forest the lead for good. A free throw by Davis with 1:57 to play made the score 50-42 but a layup and three-pointer by Southwestern trimmed the margin to three with 40 seconds left. Brian Madson made one of two free throws with 37 seconds left, the Forester defense held, and junior guard Jordan Gipson put the game out of reach with two more free throws with three seconds to play. A Pirate three-pointer at the buzzer accounted for the final score.

Lake Forest is now 3-7 and Southwestern 5-7 this season.

The Foresters will resume Midwest Conference play against Ripon College Wednesday at 5:00 p.m.
