Foresters Unable to Keep Up with Carroll

The Lake Forest College men's basketball team dropped an 80-57 decision to Carroll University at home Wednesday night. The Foresters fell to 1-1 in Midwest Conference play this season.

Lake Forest junior guard Jordan Gipson, sophomore forward Brian Madson, and freshman guard Austin Terry tied for team-high honors with eight points apiece. Brian Madson was also tied with his brother, senior forward Chris Madson, with a team-high six rebounds.

Carroll shot 51 percent from the field and a blistering 57.1 percent (16-for-28) from three-point range in the contest. Lake Forest made just 39 percent of its field goal attempts and eight of 25 shots from beyond the arc. The Pioneers also had a 39-26 edge in rebounds.

The visitors scored the game's first five points and led throughout the night. The margin reached as many as 20 points in the first half and 26 in the second.

Lake Forest fell to 1-3 overall this season as Carroll raised its record to 4-1.

The Foresters will continue league play Saturday afternoon at Illinois College. Tip-off is scheduled for 3:00 p.m.
