Foresters Fall at Nation's 15th-Ranked Team

The Lake Forest College men's basketball team was defeated 60-46 at St. Norbert College, the #15 team in the country, Friday night. The Foresters are now 7-7 overall and 5-4 in Midwest Conference play. The Green Knights raised their overall record to 12-3 and league mark to 8-2.

Sophomore guard Jeff Beck and junior forward Dayton Young led Lake Forest with eight points apiece. Junior forward Nate Bateman was next with seven points and led the team with five rebounds.

The Foresters' six turnovers in the game were their lowest single-game total since recording just five at St. Norbert on December 5, 2008. The Green Knights, however, shot 45 percent from the field and out-rebounded the visitors 42-17.

A 16-2 first half run by St. Norbert turned a one-point Forester lead into a 13-point deficit. The margin was a dozen points (36-24) at halftime and Lake Forest got no closer in the final 20 minutes. The lead reached as many as 21 points before the visitors cut it back down to 12 in the final minute.

The Foresters will be back in action at 4:00 tomorrow afternoon at Ripon College. A live video webcast of the game will be available at www.pennatlantic.com.
