Foresters Fall to Nation's 13th-Ranked Team

The Lake Forest College men's basketball team was defeated 65-47 on Saturday by visiting St. Norbert College, the #13 team in the country.

Junior forward Nate Bateman led the Foresters with nine points and junior post player Travis Clark finished with eight points and a team-high eight rebounds and three steals. Sophomore guard Jeff Beck, junior guard David Pilalis, and freshman guard James Stack added seven points apiece.

The Foresters shot just 32.6 percent from the field and 5-for-17 from three-point range. The home team made 12 of 15 free throws. St. Norbert connected on 52.1 percent of its field goal attempts and shot 4-for-12 from beyond the arc and 11-for-17 from the foul line. The Green Knights had a slight 31-29 edge in rebounds and committed just 11 of the game's 28 turnovers.

The visitors jumped out to a 15-2 lead. Lake Forest pulled back to within three points (23-20) but trailed 29-22 at halftime. The margin reached 12 points early in the second half before the Foresters trimmed it to seven at the midway mark of the period. St. Norbert then scored the next 15 points to put the game out of reach.

Lake Forest will be back in action on Tuesday at the RDV Sportsplex D3 Classic in Orlando, Florida. The Foresters will face host Hope College at 5:00 p.m. (EST) and will also take on Trine University the next day at 5:30 p.m. (EST).
