Brackets Established at USHA National Collegiate Championships

The Lake Forest College handball team is in Tucson, Arizona, this weekend for the 2023 U.S. Handball Association National Collegiate Championships.

Results from the first two days of competition determine player placement in each bracket and that process is complete.

Freshmen Audrey Peters dropped her first match but won the second and will play in the Women's A1 Division.

Senior Sarah Moskow and freshman Arielle Augustyn also posted a victory apiece in the preliminary rounds and will participate in the Women's A2 Division.

Sophomore Dylan Schmitt, senior Collin Peters, sophomore Zach Dybal, and junior Mitch Dirnberger combined for a 4-4 record in the preliminary rounds and will compete in the Men's A1 Division. Schmidt and Peters are the top two seeds in the bracket while Dybal is #11 and Dirnberger #12.

The Men's B1 champion a year ago, sophomore Parker McElroy will play a level higher in the A3 bracket this season.

A pair of victories for junior Josh Levin earned him a spit in the B1 Division while freshman Ray Vo and Seth Jayaprabhu will competed in B3.

Doubles play is also under way, although three of Lake Forest's five tandem were eliminated in the opening round of their respective divisions. Peters and Moskow reached the semifinals in the Women's A bracket while McElroy and Levin won in the opening round before falling in the quarterfinals of the A Division on the men's side.

The first two rounds of bracket play will take place on Friday, the semifinals on Saturday, and the finals on Sunday.
