Foresters Compete at State Singles Tournament

Senior Anthony Sullivan reached the Men's Open semifinals and freshman Zach Dybal was the B Division runner-up at the Illinois Handball Association State Singles Tournament over the weekend.

The event was played at Schaumburg Tennis Plus in Schaumburg, Illinois.

Sullivan prevailed 21-8, 21-18 in the round of 16 before outlasting his opponent 21-18, 14-21, 11-9 to reach the semifinals for the first time in four appearances at the event. There he fell 21-20, 21-7 to the eventual champion.

Dybal reached the B Division final after posting tiebreaker victories in the quarterfinal (11-10) and semifinal (11-7) rounds. He was defeated 21-17, 21-10 in the final.

Additional Forester victories at the event were turned in by senior Devin Peters in the Open Division and sophomores Josh Levin and Connor Hudziak in the C/Novice Division. All three wins came in the round of 16.

Lake Forest will host a Men's Invitational Singles event on Saturday, February 5, in the Sports and Recreation Center.
