Junior Anthony Sullivan was the Men's Open Singles runner-up and claimed the Open Doubles title with classmate Devin Peters over the weekend at the 45th Annual Ben Delaney Circle City Tournament in Indianapolis.
Sullivan came from behind to defeat Peters 5-21, 21-17, 11-4 in the semifinals before falling to 2002 Lake Forest College graduate Bill Mehilos in the final.
Sullivan had Peters with him for another comeback when they came out on top of a 5-21, 21-19, 11-4 decision in the doubles final.
It was a Lake Forest final in the Men's A Singles Division, where senior Chandler Straw knocked off freshman Collin Peters 21-7, 21-8 in the championship.
Freshman John Lohnes and sophomore Brendan Coggins posted quarterfinal victories in the Men's C Singles bracket before falling in the semifinals.
All six of the women's players at the event were Foresters and senior Riley Frisbie prevailed 21-17, 8-21, 11-6 over classmate Quinn Jagodzinski in the final. Fellow seniors Monica Redfern and Annabeth Gibbons posted quarterfinal wins before falling to Frisbie and Jagodzinski, respectively.
Lake Forest will host several alumni and players in the area for a women's doubles invitational next Saturday and will begin play at the United States Handball Association National Collegiate Championships at the University of Texas on Wednesday, February 19.
