Lake Forest Hosts IHA Women's Singles Tournament

Lake Forest College was the site of the 2013 Illinois Handball Association Women's Singles Tournament on Saturday. Senior Amalia DeSardi was the top Forester in the event, reaching the semifinals before falling to the eventual champion.

Forester junior Sammie Zender, sophomore Amber Craghead, and junior Colleen Hosman claimed titles in the A, B, and C Divisions, respecitvely. Zender defeated fellow junior Aimee Fadden 21-3, 21-1 in the A final, Craghead edged out freshman Christi Valicenti 21-17, 21-19 to take the B crown, and Hosman recorded a 17-21, 21-5, 11-7 come-from-behind victory over freshman Amanda Flaxman for the C championship.

Sophomore Gracie Mullins and freshman Katrine Buur joined Craghead and Valicenti in the B semifinals and freshman Emily Rabin reached the division's quarterfinal round.

The Foresters will compete at the Circle City Open next weekend in Indianapolis.
