Foresters Compete at Milwaukee Classic

The Lake Forest College handball team traveled to West Allis, Wisconsin, for the Milwaukee Classic over the weekend. Forester senior Victor Perez rattled off four victories to win the event's Open Consolation bracket.

Fellow senior Nikolai Nahorniak was the team's top finisher in the Open bracket, where he battled the nation's top-ranked player but fell 21-17, 21-10.

Perez was one of three Lake Forest players to win in the finals of their respective tournaments. He claimed the Open Consolation bracket, junior Riley Kloss won in the A Division and classmate Dan Sterrett in the B Division.

The Foresters also claimed three runner-up finishes. Junior Maria Dugas was second in the B Consolation bracket, sophomore Geoff Douglas in the C Division, and freshman Samantha Zender in the C Consolation.

Dugas and Zender were two of several Forester women to experience success in the predominantly men's event.

Lake Forest will be back in action January 13-16 at the Illinois Handball Association Men's Singles Tournament in Des Plaines.
