Lake Forest wide receivers amassed more than 2,000 receiving yards under Mulford's direction in 2018. The group was highlighted by First Team All-Midwest Conference South Division selection Chris Edomwande, who finished with 61 receptions for 798 yards and 10 touchdowns.

Mulford spent the 2017 season as a football assistant with the Chicago Bears. In that position he helped Head Coach John Fox with weekly meeting preparation, worked closely with the rest of the staff and players on various tasks and game preparation, assisted the running backs coach in positional meetings and on-the-field training, and served as a liaison between different departments, players, and coaches within the organization.

A four-year letter winner at running back and H-back for the Foresters, Mulford played in all but four games and helped lead the team to a 24-16 overall record and a mark of 18-9 in Midwest Conference play during his career. He was a two-time Academic All-MWC honoree, a semifinalist for the prestigous William V. Campbell Trophy, and a member of the National Football Foundation Hampshire Honor Society. He graduated with a degree in sociology and anthropology.
