Mike Gerton

  • Title:
    Tight Ends/H-Backs Coach
"I chose to coach Division III because of the love of the game. Our student-athletes are incredibly passionate for the game of football and work hard for that sole reason."
- Assistant Football Coach Mike Gerton

The 2015 season will be Mike Gerton’s second year with the Foresters. He will continue to direct the team’s tight ends and h-backs.

Under Gerton’s direction, the tight ends and h-backs have become an integral part of the Forester offensive system. Players at the two positions combined for 10 receptions and 57 yards while being on the field for more than 60 percent of the team’s snaps.

Gerton is a 2013 graduate of Valparaiso University, where he was a captain and three-year letter winner for the Crusaders while starting at tight end. In addition to his on-field success, Gerton was a role model off the field. He was named to the Pioneer Football League Academic Honor Roll and the National Football Foundation Hampshire Honor Society. Gerton also received Valparaiso’s Richard P. Koenig Award for moral character and academic and athletic achievement.

Gerton is also a graduate of nearby Mundelein High School. He currently resides in Mundelein and, in addition to coaching, works for the Park and Recreation Department.
